Hi to all,

I'm glad to inform all comunity that after a long and hard work the Quick mission editor is finalized.

I already sent to GK the files and i hope to see them in the download section as soon as possible.

However i have to tell one thing. This version of Quick mission editor is a "beta" version.
In fact in the quick mission there are a lot of possible combination for the setting and it is impossible for only few person to test them all.
For this reason i need the help of the comunity.
I kindly ask to everybody to report every bugs and to report if some mission is not coerent with the selected settings.

It is very important that you post me what you set and what you found not coerent and if possible to send the mission file by email.
(For example: i set "tails on red" condition and i found the enemy behind me)

I hope you will find not many bugs but i'm not sure of this because i searched to finalize the quick mission in a short time in order to make to the comunity a little "Christmas present".

I hope you will try this new utility and you will find usefull and i hope that drop down menu in winXP will be "bypassed" even if not solved.

Keep in touch High 5
Bye

PS I sent to GK also the revised version of Mini pro Launcher and Super Pro Launcher. With this new version you will be able to enter in the quick mission editor and in the pilot editor from the launcher platform itself. To do this simply put the quick mission editor and the pilot editor into the same folder of the launcher.

Have fun!!

Thanks a million. I just re-loaded my USAF the other day and tried to manually fix the drop down menu issues via the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.1 with no success.

I was getting ready to code my own mission editor using MFC and the generated files from USAF. The files were very complex and I was not looking forward to coding this...so many thanks because now I don't have to.

Good job.

For those wanting to get it to work inside of USAF:

The problem I think is with WinXP visual themes and list boxes. LB_ITEMFROMPOINT which determines the item in the list box based on the mouse cursor position does NOT work with XP but I found a workaround on a site. I encountered this very problem in one of my own applications and AFAIK this is the only function with list boxes that is not implemented in Win32. I cannot think of any other function that may cause it to fail. Perhaps USAF is using the mouse position to create the dropdown listbox and since the function fails....the window is never created since left=right=top=bottom.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/148498

The only way to get this to work in the game would be to hook the DLL that controls list boxes (common controls dll) and rewrite the code so that broken functions work. Windows would call your code first which would enable you to fix the problem.

Hi Davide,

Its nice you got the breakthrough for Quick Mission Editor for Win XP users. However, I have got some problem with it on my PC. Might be you can suggest something.

After the download, I extracted the file in USAF\Resources\Qme. However, the moment I ran QuickMissionEditor.exe it gave the following error 'tempQMEMission.exe not found'.

In order to avoid this error, I saved the file under D:\USAF\. This time Quck Mission Editor ran successfully and requested me to submit installation path. D:\USAF\.

Once I was through, I saved one of the mission under D:\USAF\Resources\Mission\Qme, with the name My Mission. Apparently, It ran successfully however, the moment I got in the air for the combat I found, none of the Fighters have missiles, not even guns. Sad

I wonder what could be the cause of this. Perhaps, you may know the reason.

PS: I am running the mission straight from the D:\USAF\Resources\Mission\QME and not through USAF as it does not allow me to do so.

Regards
Vikram

Hi, tested it and for me the weapon load was ok., but tested only MiniPro so far. By the way, if the mission is loading and you press the save button again and again, you come into the loading screen after the loading has finished and you can select all the weapons you want to.

Hi to all,

Sorry for my absence in the last 4 days but i was very busy.

To Vikram: for installation of QME simply copy the file in any folder you like. Run it and insert the "USAF" folder. Then exit saving path info (there is a button that do it).
ATTENTION: if you use some others of my utility you can simply copy the exe file in the folder where you put others utilities. The QME get the usaf installation folder from the pathinfo.ini file. (common for all my utilities).

However Vikram be informed that you should be able to load a QM from USAF. Opening a mission from USAF you may not find your setting in the screen but you should find them when you fly the mission. If it is not so it means there is a problem that we have to solve.

To Vikram and JarryGraslie: i checked and may be that in the version of QME for USAF Stock version and USAF Pure version there is a bug in the building of loadout section. If you could post me with which plane you found problem it will be very helpfull for me. However today i should be able to send a revised version in the download section.

I thank you very much for your feedback. I was sure that some problems came out. There are a lot of possible combination in the setting and there are four versions of USAF. Infact i made a warning that this version of QME were "beta" version. However i'm ready to solve the problem that all comunity find in the shortest possible time.

Keep in touch
Bye
