| Hey SLIKK, great job! I wish I had the programs required to do some creative modding, but your so good I'll leave it in good hands! O.K., the tanks are pretty cool & a nice change of pace, but the main cannons don't fire. Is there a section I can look at to see if the implementation got written write?

In order to fire your 120 MM rounds or M2 .50 Caliber machine gun you must first hit (Shift+S) to take the safety off. When selecting the 122-MM your gun will aim higher. This use useful when your target is higher than you are, or your tank is tilted downward due to the contour of the terrain. You can use your FLIR screen to (zoom) in and see ground forces that are far away from you. While in FLIR mode it is also a good idea to use the (Pan) feature to scan the battlefield.
Remember... Hit (Shift+S) first and your guns will work.
Good Luck!

| Sorry Slikk, but it isn't the safety. Anything else it might be?

I just did a Ground Assault mission to make sure everything is working and it is... Follow these steps and you should be ok.
1: goto C:\ProgramFiles\Jane'sCombatSimulations\USAF\Resource\Mods\Terrain-Airbase\ and click on the Ground Assault Terrain file
(Tanks will not work with out the Ground Assault Terrain).
2: load the correct cockpit-FM for your tank.
3: Load the mission and run the game and remember... Hit (Shift+S) first so your guns will work.
Let me know if you get it to work.

| I just did a new install of Pro4 on another machine, loaded like you said & tried the Ground assault 01. NO cannon, machine gun yes. Also, are you supposed to be facing 5-10 degrees to the left of center when inside the tank? I have the graphic problem with the blue triangles around the men too.

I have 2 problems:
1. I can't create my own pilot (in the Pilot's screen). It says something about bad files in the resource folder and then it CTD.
2. My Reference library has the list of items but no info on theitems is shown in the middle screen.

When you create a new pilot it will shutdown the game. Just restart the game go back to the pilot and delete and your name will appear and all is well.
Due to the large amount of planes in the SP games no info is available.

Hi Jimmy:
Thanks for the response. I will try it ASAP.
Regarding the library, is there a way to at least import the original library from the original USAF installation?

That I don't know about hopefuly Slikk or Cowar could answer the question as they done the programing of the games. I thought tho that I had read that it is coded into the main code and not possible due to not having the code.
Hope you have success with the pilot update.

Hi Punisher.
To your question about the "Reference". I don´t know if you have installed MiniPro. The libary of aircrafts, vehicles, and weapons is extremely extended. But this menu option is available unfortunately only for W98 user. XP refuses implementing this menu option correctly.
A specification to change or create pilots you find in the MiniPro User Guide.

Thinking about geting back into this sim, videos look great. Anyway I play Falcon4 alot and the best site I've seen for reference is: Federation of American Scientists
Use the nav bar on right, they have info on just about anything military including news diagrams and such. I find it very helpful. You may have already seen it. Looking forward to firing up USAF again.

Hello,
Im new to this site and am having a problem with SP94. When I try to access the preference from the main screen th program just freezes. When I check the program manager it shows a constant 25 to 30% CPU usage but it will never enter into the preference screen.
Any suggestions?

Hi, FENDER - are you fond of electric guitars, maybe? I am... of Gibson though
This said, have you configured the program with that proper utility called "USAF Config"?
Please don't forget to test the primary video driver only...
Welcome in this Forum and good luck!
Jackal out.

| Fender, don't know if you know, but you might also try the UI fix, because I had that problem till I installed it back in the day....I might get a "thank you Capt. Obvious" for that one and a smack in the forehead, but being I've been gone so long, it might be worth a shot.

Hi. A note to the Punisher & Cowar re: Reference section in SP 9.4.
I couldn't get this to work either, but when I copied the contents of the SP 9.4 Resource/Ref directory in to the original USAF (which was still sitting over in USAF2) and was able to see the 2D images and text for all items, and yes, I'm running it in XP without any compatibility mode (unless it is being affected by the UI Fix for SP 9.4 that I installed in the SP directory).
I didn't try copying over the aircraft 3d files yet, so I don't know if they will work. Seems there may be some possibilities here though.
While fooling around in my old USAF, first thing I see is the Super Pro 9.4 title has appeared on the bottom of the USAF start-up page. Also no problem starting in XP even though I hadn't run the UI Fix for this version. (This was a fresh install done just so I could install SP 9.4) Next thing I find are all the new missions, and the few I've tried worked! The cockpit views work fine, but the plane is invisible in the external views. Hmm. Something else to try after moving over the Aircraft files from SP perhaps... The weird thing is that I didn't copy over the mission files or anything else.
I have no idea if the original USAF and SP 9.4 are supposed to get so interlinked, so I don't know if this is normal or just my system.
Any comments?
(Maybe some one a little brighter than me can make this work)

| Your USAF is going to show the Super Pro screen because you installed your original USAF to the original USAF folder with the installer. It is now referencing the super pro files that are now located there. To play your original USAF, you should rename your SP9.4 installation USAF3 and your original game USAF, and then you won't have the mixup. But to play SP9.4 again, revert the names to USAF and USAF2

Thanks Kaindragon That seems obvious now that you mention it. The registry is of course looking at the USAF (now SP 9.4) directory regardless of which USAF.exe I open. But somehow I am getting to sse at least part of the Reference files.
I did a little more testing last night and found that whenever I referenced one of the new aircraft, the 3D image stayed the same as the last old aircraft displayed. When I came to another of the old aircraft, the 3D image updated to this aircaft. The 2D and text appeared to be correct for whichever aircraft, old or new, that was selected. I don't yet know what this means but we'll see.
The bad news is that poking around in the old USAF, without changing my directory names as you have suggested, resulted in the aircraft becoming invisible in SP 9.4. I'm talking about the external views in flight. Not all seem to be affected. The A-10 (an original aircraft) was one of the victims.
I'll have to do a re-install, and keep a better eye open against these cross-over effects. Gotta be careful, this gets addictive.

| I have windows XP and USAF works fine except for the dropdown menus until I try to install SP9.4. I have tried to get it to work both with the UI fix and without. I also tried the windows compatibility wizard and still didn't get it to work. I will either get an error message when I try and run the game, or the game will go through the Jane's intro to the video intro and a different error box comes up that won't go away when I click on it and the game stops working. I am also using the USAF Super Pro Launcher. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
